The Auskick Parents Guide provides an excellent introduction to the Auskick program, its goals, its policies and how parents and guardians can become involved:

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to play?

$100 per player. This covers the cost of skills training and games throughout the year, trophy and the use of team shirts. At registration, Auskick children (ages 5-8) also get an Auskick backpack with lots of AFL goodies!  Juniors (ages 9-12) are not entitled to Auskick packs.   Family discounts apply: for a 2nd child it costs $80 and for a 3rd child it costs $50.

What’s the difference between Auskick and Junior Football?

Auskick is designed for children aged between 5 and 8 years. Auskick has modified rules (e.g. no tackling, zone play), smaller balls etc.   The Junior competition is for children aged between 9 and 12. They play in an organized competition against other clubs. Rules differ slightly.

When does the season start?

For the Juniors (9-12s) the competition starts late April (date to be confirmed).    For Auskick  the “season” starts on Sunday May 3rd.

On what day of the weekend will the kids be playing?

This depends on which age-based team your child is in. Auskick is played on a Sunday morning at 10am. Juniors play in an interclub-competition. This is played on a Sunday, starting at 8:30am.

Will there be mid-week training?

For Juniors training is held each Wednesday at 4.30pm.  For Auskick it is not necessary for these children to ‘train’ mid-week.  However, if parents are willing and prepared to run the coaching session, then we may conduct some training sessions after school.

Will there be travel involved?

For Juniors, yes. As part of their competition, they will be required to play some games at other clubs in the Perth Demons District.  For Auskickers, there is no formal inter-club competition so there is no requirement to travel. However, we do sometimes organize social games with other clubs and this sometimes involves travel. We usually discuss these plans with parents before making any committments.

How much parental involvement will there be?

The junior club is run solely by parents. It is expected that all parents become involved in club activities - this includes coaching, team management, club administration/organisation and canteen management/operations. Without parental involvement, the club will not survive. Please make our job easier by volunteering first!
